Dating from the early 1920s, this is a Wahl fountain pen and matching Wahl Eversharp pencil in silver with vermeil panels. The pen measures 12.4cms capped and the pencil 13.3cms
The pen is fitted with a 14k gold Eversharp USA nib which is imprinted 'Flexible'. This produces a writing line which varies from around 0.8mm (broad) with no pressure and widens to around 1.3+ with pressure. This is just how a 1920s flexible nib was designed to perform but is a style of nib with which few people today are familiar.
The pencil has the traditional Eversharp mechanism and takes 1.18mm leads

Both the pen and pencil have initials professionally engraved on the flat cap tops
Condition wise, both pieces are sound and in working condition. The fountain pen has been well looked after but also extensively used throughout the majority of its life - while there are no significant dings or dents, there is a lot of surface wear and minor marks which come from everyday use over the decades which is why we have given it a C condition grade. The pencil looks to have seen less use
The set comes with the original blue Eversharp Wahl Pen case as shown in the photos
This fills from an ink bottle using the lever on the side of the barrel and does not take cartridges. We have serviced the pen which includes fitting a new ink sac
Fountain pens from the 1920s to 1960s typically have a slightly heavier ink flow than most modern pens, and a supply of decent quality writing paper and blotting paper is recommended. A pen from the 1920s with a flexible nib is going to have a strong ink flow

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen and ultrasonically cleaning all the parts. We then reassemble the pen and fit the correct size of new ink sac, check the ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This pen comes with our normal 12 month warranty. We keep a detailed record of each customer's purchases so if you need to call us, we will have all the information here to answer any query
