This is an English Parker 51 in the brighter shade of burgundy with steel classic cap. It is fitted with a medium 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of approximately 0.6mm
This design is known as a transitional model between the Mk1 and Mk2 as it shares many features with the Mk2: the 61 type cap, thinner clutch ring, longer front shell, shorter barrel and metal sac protector, but also harks back to the Mk1 design by having a rounded end to the barrel. In terms of condition, this pen doesn't appear to have been used and is in excellent overall condition, retaining the original frosting to the cap
In terms of dating, the Mk2 was introduced around 1969 so this is likely to date from then or slightly before given the number of component parts it shares with the Mk2

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new pliglass ink sac. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the aerometric filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
