The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here
Dating from the mid 1950s, this is a Burnham 55 lever filler in black veined light and dark lilac pearl marble with gold trim. The pen measures 12.8cms capped
This is fitted with a 14k gold medium stub Burham nib with good ink flow. A stub nib is like a rounded italic producing a variation in line width depending on its direction - the vertical strokes with this nib are broader than the horizontal left>right lines
A similar 55 model is shown as pen 17 in Lambrou FPW p152
This appears to be unused and is in excellent overall condition. The imprints on the barrel are very crisp
This fills from an ink bottle using the lever on the side of the barrel and does not take cartridges. We have serviced the pen which includes fitting a new ink sac
Fountain pens from the 1920s to 1960s typically have a slightly heavier ink flow than most modern pens, and a supply of decent quality writing paper and blotting paper is recommended
Condition A2/1m Stub - (Ref 12906)

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen and ultrasonically cleaning all the parts. We then reassemble the pen and fit the correct size of new ink sac, check the ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This pen comes with our normal 12 month warranty. We keep a detailed record of each customer's purchases so if you need to call us, we will have all the information here to answer any query
