Genuine new-old-stock examples of early Parker 51s such as this one are now quite rare
This is an English Parker 51 Classic with steel cap in grey and is fitted with a medium 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.6mm
Condition wise, this is a superb example which shows no signs of having been used. The barrel still has its original labels (which predate chalk marking) which indicate the price and nib grade. The cap has all its original factory frosting and very crisp imprints (see photo).
In terms of dating, this is from 1952 as it has the simple Parker cap imprint, the earlier cap clutch design and the 'Made in England' barrel imprint with the date code of '2' with three dots which indicate that this was manufactured in the first quarter of 1952. The cap also features the earlier longer clip which is typical of production in 1949 and the very early 50s
This is an aerometric Parker 51. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
Condition A2/1m - (Ref 12897)
