This is a boxed Parker 51 Vacumatic Classic DL pen & pencil set in grey with original price stickers on the barrel, both pen and pencil were produced in the USA
The pen is fitted with a medium USA nib which gives a writing line of around 0.6mm. The propelling pencil takes 0.9mm leads.
The fountain pen has crisp imprints on the barrel showing that it was manufactured in the first quarter of 1947 which tallies with the date on the nib imprint which is also 1947
Both lustraloy (steel) caps feature the broad jeweler's band of engraved parallel lines (see David Shepherd's book on the Parker 51 page 90) and are fitted with gold filled clips which give this variation its DL tag
Condition wise, both pieces are effectively unused with original stickers with only very minor marks from 75 years of storage somewhere. This set comes with the original contemporary Parker 51 hardshell box shown in the photos
This is an Vacumatic Parker 51. The pen fills from an ink bottle using the plunge at the end of the barrel and does not take cartridges
